Discover Pego

Located in the picturesque region of Marina Alta, Pego is a true hidden gem for those looking to get off the beaten path. Nestled between majestic mountains and lush rice fields, it lies in a peaceful inland area just 10 minutes from the beaches.

Its cobbled streets and traditional houses reflect a rich past. The Church of the Assumption, a Gothic gem, dominates the main square, while the Ecce Homo chapel and the ruins of Ambra Castle recall the town’s medieval history.

Strolling through Pego’s center is an opportunity to soak up the authentic Spanish atmosphere, blending tradition and modernity. On Thursdays, the local market brings the streets to life, offering a taste of regional products and handicrafts.

Good to know: Disney had chosen Pego as the location for its first Disneyland in Europe. Due to strong opposition from the local residents, Eurodisney —which later became Disneyland Paris— was eventually built in Marne-la-Vallée, 30 km from Paris
